Easter is that time of the year when we should slow down and think about what matters most in this life. Not everything should revolve around better jobs, earning more money, scheduling every single moment so that we would check all boxes on our to do lists. Because a new “to do” always comes along. And after years of struggle we feel exhausted, always on the run, always fighting against a merciless clock. This does not mean we should get sad, we should only appreciate more what we have

Forget perfection

The world is not going to end if the house is a little cluttered or dinner is on the table a few minutes late. “Focus your energy on enjoying the people in your life,” says Donna Schempp, the program director for the Family Caregiver Alliance. Don’t sweat the small stuff and your Easter will be much more enjoyable!

Do less, enjoy more

There’s no need to cook twenty dishes or to schedule visits and lunches and dinners with different people, or try different activities. Stick to the closest people in your life, spend quality time with them, be fully present.

Get out of the house

Several studies show that nature walks have memory-promoting effects. BusinessInsider.com says that “In one study, University of Michigan students were given a brief memory test, then divided into two groups. One group took a walk around an arboretum, and the other took a walk down a city street. When the participants returned and did the test again, those who had walked among trees did almost 20% percent better than they had first time.” So consider a nature walk when thinking about how to spend the days off.

Think positive

Positive thinking doesn’t mean that you keep your head in the sand and ignore life’s less pleasant situations. Positive thinking just means that you approach unpleasantness in a more positive and productive way. You think the best is going to happen and wish it with every single cell in your body.
